DS Game: Geometry Wars Galaxy
Wow.
I got the US version today. It’s amazing, my surprise game of the year so far. Having never played the 360 Arcade version I didn’t know too much about this game, so I took a chance in getting it, and thank god I did. It is the must have game for people who get addicted or are easily bored. It is a game that you can play for hours, it’s the tetris of a new age with the graphics being similar.
Ratings:
Graphics: 7/10 – They did what they were supposed to, but the graphics don’t really matter in this game!
Gameplay: 10/10 – Wow, Could it be any better? The answer is, no.
Controls: 10/10 – Modes for left and right handed people, no complaints. In fact the controls are great, I choose to use the A, B, X and Y buttons instead of the stylus though.
Multiplayer: 9/10 – WiFi highscore tables are nice and so is the multiplayer I’m sure but I haven’t tried it, it missed out on the 10/10 by not having a combination of the WiFi and multiplayer, which would have allowed you to really play against people online.
Overall (not average): 10/10 (98%) – You could hardly hope for a better game.
The aim of the game is surviving the hordes of bad-guys coming by shooting at them and gaining points which will add to your score and then they drop ‘Geoms’ which are like a currency for unlocking new features, also for every lot of ‘Geoms’ you pick up your score from is multiplied by that amount until you lose a life then you have to build up your multiplier again, the max is 150.
It truly is a great game, buy it for 360 Arcade, PC (Vista and XP), Wii, Phone or of course DS!

DS Game: My Sims
It doesn’t take a genius to work out this is a game made by EA under the Sims brand. I have played this game… but how much has it got to do with the ‘real’ Sims brand? Well the answer is not too much. There is no job other than to make your town a happy place full of tourists, there are no cash flow problems and no family, its just you and the town residents. Sounds alright… doesn’t it? Well its not as good as it was hyped up to be. People were saying it was going to be similar to Animal Crossing… It’s not. A bit of a let down by EA. I haven’t played it for that long but I read that it is an 8 hour game… I played for about an hour and I don’t really see it getting better.
I think it’s time to dispose of this game.
I can’t write a very long review because there isn’t too much to really say. I don’t recommend buying this game.

Is Mario Party DS Wi-Fi Compatible?
Short answer… No. No version of it is WiFi compatible. I have just got the English version, its not that much of a disappointment, It’s a good game. Just not great, WiFi Compatibility would have taken Mario Party DS from good to great. Anyway… I’ll tell all in my upcoming proper review. Click Here to read my preview of the game from playing the Japanese version.
Games to review include:
Mysims DS
Sight Training DS
Super Mario Galaxy Wii
And… Whatever DS game you suggest.
I’ll review any DS game… Just suggest it here in a comment.

DS Game: Mario Slam Basketball
I just got Mario Slam Basketball a couple of days ago because it’s an old game(ish) and it was going cheap.
I love it. Gameplay is brilliant, controls are brilliant and the characters are… brilliant. Well done square-enix you have produced another great game. I can’t find a fault with it. Well… maybe there is one, after having it 2 days and probably playing for only a couple of hours I completed the normal mode… That tells me it’ll only be about 3 or 4 more hours till I beat hard mode… but I guess this game has replay value seeing as its not really about the storyline.

If you pick this game up… before doing the challenges/tutorial thing… make sure you go into options and choose the hand you write with. I’m left handed and I had to use my right hand… I then tried swapping hands and found it impossible. However even using my weaker hand the controls were perfect. After completing the tutorial/challenge thing I felt like I’d been playing for hours and it was so easy… The tournaments slowly ease you into different levels of difficulty too.
The game didn’t need touch screen controls and it may have been a safer bet not to have done so and just had the player tapping A,B,X and Y instead of stroking the stylus up, down and sideways but I think the touch screen controls really work with this game.
I also love the different courts. My favourite is Jr. Street, the slot machine is great. You normally dribble over the yellow boxes to get coins but in Jr. Street the yellow boxes turn to purple every so often and if you get a purple coin and score a basket you get to use the slot machine to possible treble the shots score or +30 and +20 etc.
This has to be one of the best games I’ve played for ages. I’ll write another post when I’ve completed hard… right now I think I’ll give it a rest. It’s a great game but you can’t play it for more than a few hours in a couple of days. Like every game you don’t wanna make it get old… so you are always thinking wow big surprise… didn’t see that coming. It’s best to vary games, making it more fun.

DS Game: Mario Party DS
Ok so this is a game that is only out in Japan at the minute so this doesn’t really give me much to review.
I have played the Japanese version and despite the fact it was in Japanese it still had the same Mario Party/Nintendo feel to it.
I know it’s a little distorted but its not easy taking pictures of a DS. Anyway this picture has no apparent significance to the game but it was on there and I have been told I should add more pictures to my blog…
Anyway, this game has a few different modes. Seeing as they were in Japanese I have no idea what they are. If I were to guess I’d say the first one is Story Mode seeing as you get sucked into this story typed cut screen where it would appear Bowser invites Mario and his friends to a lovely feast and then captures them. However I can’t read the writing so I don’t understand how playing a board game behind bars is going to help. Anyway it should be interesting to see how this turns out in the English version.

There is also obviously the normal mode where you just play Mario Party with no boring storyline. It seems Mario Party-like. The minigames… They look and play great. Well the ones I’ve seen anyway. They really are good.

Also there is Download-Play… this doesn’t seem too significant until you realise you can have 4 players from one cartridge. Meaning that it will be easy to play with friends who have DS’s but don’t really want Mario Party. However I believe you can only play minigames with download play and no regular boards.
I have absolutely no idea about Wi-Fi. While playing the game I have had no luck finding anything Wi-Fi related but I have been told the English version will have Wi-Fi compatibility and possibly American too. I am really not too sure…
Based on what I’ve played I’ll give the game 7/10 if when I play the European/American version I find it better then my score will go up.
Think of this as more of a preview than a review.
I think it gets released around the 23rd of November in the UK.
Sorry that this was an extremely vague review that hardly counts as a review.
Expect a better one soon.

Wow… Lost time no post.
It would appear I have forgotten to post for a while again…
Sorry.
Anyway thanks to ourblogreview.com for reviewing my blog. I am ashamed to say that I haven’t updated like it says I do however… I am writing a new review or three. You’ll just have to wait and see. Thanks you ourblogreview for the kind comments about my reviews and I will think about adding some more pictures.
Anyway… What’s happened recently? Well Arsenal qualified for the Champions League!!!! (yay) and… I’ve had a ton of homework and a new website I’m working on.
Thanks
Jack
